Anyone with relatives in the Louis Crain Cemetery in Pine is invited to a work day on Saturday.

Wilda Bufkin is organizing the event, and she said if people cannot come and help clean up the graves, they can send money for continued maintenance.

“We have someone that mows it, but the individual graves need attention,” she said. “We need people from all the various families to come and take care of the graves because some of them are sinking and they just need to be cleaned good.”

Bufkin said the cemetery is home to many of the area’s founding families and some of the graves date to the 19th century.

The workday will begin at 9 a.m., however Bufkin said the workday will be postponed to the following Saturday if it is raining.

“Usually about this time of the year we go have a general clean up,” she said. “There a lot of stuff that needs to be done and so were asking the relatives of the people who are there to come out and help up clean it up.”

Bufkin said volunteers who come should bring yard equipment.
