Irene Peters

On April 13, 2016, Jesus whispered and said to Ms. Irene Lanell Brown Peters, “Fear not my child! For where you are going, there will be no more pain or suffering, come and go with me and I will give you peace and everlasting life.”

She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, the Rev. Myron Dinnard (Cheryle) Peters of Baton Rouge; grandson, Myron Dinnard Peters II; granddaughter, Mia Daniece Peters, both of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Celia Forbes of Bogalusa, and Corine Watson of Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers-in-law, Williams Earl (Catherine) Peters of Gretna, and the Rev. Willie Imes of Clinton, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Peters and Hilda Peters, both of Elkhart, Ind.; three great-nieces who she adored, Denise Forbes, Brittany Forbes and Dominique Lewis; two great-nephews who always made her smile, Le’eric Forbes and Sean Forbes; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Peters; her daughter, Phyllis Deborah Peters; two sons, Marquel Daune Peters and Phillip Warren Peters; granddaughter, Calrissa Leah Peters; her father and mother, Jim Erwin Brown Sr. and Isabell Conerly Brown; three brothers, Clinton Brown, Jimmy Brown and Cleveland Brown; one sister, Ora Dee Brown Mills; father and mother-in-law, the Rev. Curtis and Annie Peters; five brothers-in-law, C.L. Peters, Glenn B. Peters Sr., Zebedee Peters, Floyd Owens and Cullie Cotton; and six sisters-in-law, Betty Brown, Betty Monroe Brown, Claudette Cotton, Audrey Owens, Neita Evens and Ellen Imes.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at First Church of God in Christ, 615 E. Fifth St. in Bogalusa, followed by the funeral at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
