David Walter Lampley, 94, was born on Jan. 18, 1922, in Talisheek, to John and Estella Lampley. He departed this life on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Revie Lampley; his parents, John and Estella Lampley; a brother, Jesse D. Lampley; two sons-in-law, J.D. Mims and Terry Vernon; three grandsons, James Mims, Robert Byrd and Terry Byrd; and one granddaughter-in-law, Yosha Sibley.
He leaves to cherish his memories: seven daughters, Marie Mims of Columbus, Ohio, Jewel Vernon of Bogalusa, Revita Lampley and Priscilla Lampley of Columbus, Kimberly (Michael) Peters of Tuscon, Ariz., Iris (Norman) Robinson of Columbus, and Amy (Jerald) Brown of Houston, Texas; six granddaughters, Tera (Bruce) Magee of Columbus, Susan (Denson) Pittman of Bogalusa, Alexis (Angel) Vallejo of Columbus, Janessa (Tristan) Chancley of Columbus, Jakyra Pigott of Houston, and Cynthia (LaRide) Conerly of McKinney, Texas; 10 grandsons, Howard Sibley of Columbus, Kendric Lampley of Bogalusa, David R. Penton, Leonard Anchrum of Columbus, Edrick (Terri) Fland, Federick (Tiffany) Fland of Houston, Christian Minnis of Columbus, Patrick Pigott, Ja’Juan Pigott of Houston, and Brandon Magee of Columbus; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Barbara Bunch of Bogalusa.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 14, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Friday, April 15, at the funeral home at 1 p.m., with Apostle Clayton Bullock officiating. Interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
