Mattie Mae Myers

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).

Miss Mattie Mae Myers was born in Bogalusa on April 26, 1941. She departed this life on April 7, 2016.

She was the third oldest in a family of six children. Mattie was the daughter of the late Mrs. Beatrice Foster Myers and Mr. F.D. Myers Sr. She was a 1961 graduate of Central Memorial High School and a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church.

She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her yard with her plants. There was never a dull moment with Mattie Mae. She was known for keeping others laughing.

She is preceded in death by her son, Aaron Dewayne Myers; one sister, Mrs. Geneva Galloway; one brother, Freddie Myers; and a niece, Mrs. Cathy Foster.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Mrs. Shirley (Cleophus) Guy of Bogalusa; two brothers, Henry Myers of Baton Rouge and Denver (Stephanie) Myers of Bogalusa; one aunt, Mrs. Azzie L. Woullard of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one very close friend, Mary Morris of Baton Rouge; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 16, at the funeral home at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
