Ernest Walters Jr.

Mr. Ernest Walters Jr. passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at the age of 74 at Wynhoven Nursing Home in Marrero.

He was born in New Orleans, to the late Ernest Walters Sr. and Audrey Stewart Walters.

He graduated from Magnolia High School in Vacherie in 1961. Later, he attended Grambling State University, and graduated from Southern University of New Orleans in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, and also served in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his children Cassandra Walters (Reginald) Thompson, Ernest Walters III, Russa Walters (Alex) Enakhifo, Oba Walters (Jennifer), Nun Amen-Ra, Tamu Walters, Chaka (Vernessa) Walters and Imani (Latresia) Walters; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers and three sisters.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Raymond Walters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., followed by the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home chapel, located at 2000 Washington St. in Franklinton.
