Christine G. Johnson, 60, of Hackley, returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

Christine G. Johnson, the baby of nine children, was born to Superintendent Dutch James and Missionary Ruth Nickolson-James, in Bogalusa, on May 20, 1955. She graduated from Mt. Hermon High School.

As a young lady, she also managed to attend trade school, despite the great responsibility of caring for her ill mother and raising her niece. Years later, on Sept. 11, 1981, she married the love of her life Sidney Johnson.

Through this union, two sons were born, Samuel Johnson and Dwight Johnson. Her sons were the answer to her prayers and were so very dear to her. She worked for the Washington Parish School District for many years and later worked and retired as a personal caregiver.

Surviving to cherish her memories are: her husband, Sidney Johnson of Hackley; her sons, Samuel (Colletha) Johnson of Monroe, and Dwight Johnson of Monroe; her granddaughter, Kaitlin Johnson; her godchildren, Linda Magee, Kristy Davis, Austin Clark, Raymond James, Deandre Lawson, Christina Creighton and Christina Elzie; her sisters, Naomi James, Josie Butler, Loucean James, Louise Hart, Martha Beard and Ruth Watson; her brothers, Willie Ray James and Bobbie Ray James; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Superintendent Dutch James; mother, Missionary Ruth Nickolson-James; stepmother, Missionary Terry Powell-James; and daughter-in-law, Ashley Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 16, at noon at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, located at 28040 Mount Olive Road in Mt. Hermon, with the Rev. George Butler, pastor, and Elder M.L. Smith, eulogist.
