Mildred Creel

Mildred L. Jenkins Creel, 69, a resident of Bogalusa, died at 9:31 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at her home.

She was a lifelong member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church and a former truck driver that had been retired for many years. Mildred cherished the time spent together with her family.

She is survived by: two sons, Dennis Eugene Bates of Bogalusa and William Lavan Bates of Pine; granddaughter and spouse, Victoria and Pete Craft of Pine; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and LaTroy Sharp of Lee Road, and Judy and Kenneth Duncan of Pine; three brothers, Ottis Jenkins, Carlos Jenkins and Clayton Jenkins; special cousins, Lauretta and Bruce Roberts, and Lauquetta and David Passman; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Earl Bates; her parents, Van Jenkins and Audrey Nobles Jenkins; a sister, Verlia Miller; and a brother, Elton Jenkins.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, April 4, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, in the funeral home chapel with Elder Billy Reyer and Elder Lerand Hunt officiating.

Burial followed in the Van Jenkins Family Cemetery near Pine.

Pallbearers included Danny Jenkins, B.J. Jenkins, George Seal, Joshua Seal, Brandon Miley and Bruce Roberts.
