On Tuesday, the U.S. District Court granted summary judgment on behalf of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, officially removing the WPSO from a lawsuit previously filed by plaintiff Douglas Dendinger against the WPSO and other agencies.

In his lawsuit, Dendinger alleged that officers and officials of the WPSO engaged in wrongful conduct by arresting him and placing him in the Washington Parish Jail.

After a review of all facts and circumstances, the United States District Court ruled in favor of the WPSO.

“We were confident that the court would rule in our favor and are pleased with the outcome,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “We have maintained all along that we had adequate probable cause to arrest Mr. Dendinger in this matter. This court decision confirms that we did.”
