Gerald “Jerry” Barnes, 79, born in Bogalusa on May 29, 1936, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at his residence in Bogalusa.

He worked in the Bogalusa Paper Mill as an electrician for 47 years. He was a member of the Local IBEW 1077. He served in the U.S. National Guard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Newell and Mildred Barnes; his wife, Martha Barnes; and a son, Gerald “Scooter” Barnes.

He is survived by his children, Ricky Barnes, Barry (Shannon) Barnes and Patricia Barnes Crain; a sister, Sue Henderson; his grandchildren, Blake Barnes, Summer Barnes Duncan, Jacob Thomas, Danielle Barnes, Alex Crain, Connor Crain and Cassidy Barnes; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, on Monday, March 7, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., with Bro. Matt Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
