Betty Davis Powell

Betty Davis Powell, born April 16, 1935, passed away peacefully at the Pearl River County Hospital on Feb. 26, 2016, at the age of 80.

Betty was a longtime member of the Love Baptist Church in Bogalusa.

A devoted mother, she leaves behind three daughters, Yvonne (Authur) Nobles of Bogalusa, Betty Jo (Mark) Kimmons of Lumberton, Miss., and Sharlene Cameron of Purvis, Miss.; a son, Billy Joe (Linda) Powell of Pine Grove; a sister, Louise Smith of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Ethie Davis; her husband, Billy E. Powell; a brother, Braxton Davis; a sister, Marie Stevens; and a son-in-law, Wayne Cameron.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home starting at 10 a.m., until the service time at 2 p.m. Brother Glynn Erwin officiated the services, assisted by Jerry Blackwell and Eddie Hartfield. The interment followed at Hillview Memorial Gardens, located on Spring Valley Road in Bogalusa.
