‘Friends’ group raffling off free Valentine’s dinner

If your Valentine’s date plans haven’t been set yet, you could leave them to chance and win big.

As in the past, the Friends of the Bogalusa Library are taking entries now for a drawing for a free Valentine’s Day dinner for two.

“We don’t know who the meal is going to be with yet,” said Assistant Manager Alan Gray. “But the drawing will be next Thursday. It will be a decent meal.”

Gray said the library hosts drawings for dinner dates frequently—most recently, he said, they hosted drawings for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners—and he said the Friends of the Library use them as a way to give back to the community.

“It’s just to generate public goodwill,” he said.

Gray said the whole process is free and easy.

“Just come up here and sign,” he said. “We got some forms, and you put your name in the box.”

However, anyone interested should hurry. Gray said there have already been quite a few people who have signed up, and the library will be closed Saturday and Tuesday for Mardi Gras.

Besides the drawing, Library Manager Emmett Guy Jr. said the library is already gearing up for its summer reading program.

“That’s in June and that’s six weeks in the middle of June through not quite to the end of July,” he said.

That program will run each Wednesday beginning at about 10 a.m.
