On Friday, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a Baton Rouge businesswoman for issuing worthless checks in the amount of $27,000 to Washington Parish businesses.
Chief Deputy Mike Haley said that Eleanor G. Collins, 47, was arrested and transported to the Washington Parish Jail, where she was booked on one count of issuing worthless checks. Her bond was set at $5,000. Collins met the conditions of her bond and was released Saturday.
Collins works in the fuel sales and distribution business. Haley said that she purchased fuel from local distributors with worthless checks, and then resold the fuel to other businesses.
“I congratulate our investigators for tracking down Collins in Baton Rouge and making the arrest,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Our officers work hard to protect citizens and businesses in Washington Parish and will always be on the alert for those who steal from others. I appreciate all that they do.”
