Bogalusa Police Department personnel recovered a stolen outboard motor and trailer in Sandy Hook, Miss. and returned the items to the rightful owner Monday, according to BPD Chief Joe Culpepper.

Detectives had earlier recovered the 14-foot boat in Marion County, Miss. The theft occurred from Union Avenue on Sept. 24. The property belonged to James Causey and had a total value of $14,000. The motor was described as a 115 HP Johnson.

“We went to Sandy Hook and recovered his motor and trailer and returned them to him on Monday,” Culpepper said. “The items were at a business in Sandy Hook. Mr. Causey seemed very happy to get his stuff back so he can go fishing again.”

Culpepper said no arrests have been made, and that the Marion County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the case.

“All people involved in Mississippi are cooperating,” Culpepper said.

Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest in the case are urged to call the Bogalusa Police Department detectives at 985-732-6238 or New Orleans Crime Stoppers at 1-877-903-STOP (7867).
