Fitzhugh Stafford

Fitzhugh O. Stafford, 93, of Franklinton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at Riverside Medical Center.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and he was also an inactive deacon at Trinity. He was a World War II veteran, and volunteered at Riverside Medical Center for 15 years. He was retired from Bell South with 33 years of service.

He is survived by: his wife of 68 years, Charline Pettitt Stafford of Franklinton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Jim Pope of Walker, and June and Leslie Gross of Ethel; four grandchildren, Jenny Guerin, Stephanie Miller, Ernest Pope and Amanda Wintz; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Erma Pettitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Friday, until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tim Gay and the Rev. Walter Mixon officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Pope, Keith Stafford, Brandon Miller, Steve Wintz, Kip Guerin and David Passman.

The family wishes to thank Dr. E. Kyle Magee and his staff and the staff at Riverside Medical Center for the care and concern given to Mr. Stafford.
