On Saturday, Dec. 26, Washington Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspicious person report near City Limits Road in Bogalusa. They went to the scene near the Torrence Drive and Hopkins Road area and discovered an abandoned vehicle.

Chief Deputy Mike Haley said that deputies followed shoe tracks that led from the vehicle to a shed behind a residence and discovered Judd Taylor, 28, a resident of Lona Rester Place in Bogalusa, who was hiding in the shed. Taylor reportedly had property in his possession which had been stolen from several locations. In addition, he had outstanding warrants from the Bogalusa Police Department and is a suspect in offenses committed in St. Tammany Parish.

Taylor was arrested and booked into the Washington Parish Jail, charged with three counts of theft, two counts of criminal damage to property and one count of simple burglary. He remains in jail with his bond set at $7,500.

“Our officers did a great job in responding promptly to the suspicious person report and solving several crimes,” Sheriff Randy Seal said. “This is a great example of cooperation between the public and our office. Once again, I ask anyone who has knowledge of a crime, or has concerns about what might be happening in their community, to call our office at 985-839-3434.

“Callers can always remain anonymous and any information may be helpful in solving or preventing a crime. Let’s continue to work together to get criminals out of our communities and into our jail.”
