Ray Jones Jr.

Mr. Ray Jones Jr., a retired contractor and farmer, died on Dec. 24, 2015 at his home. He was 84 years old. Mr. Jones was a resident of Franklinton, and a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Charlene Jones of Franklinton; seven children, Carl Jones (Pattie) of North Billerica, Mass., Mildred J. Shavers (John) of Baker, Ralph Jones (Seleria) of Mt. Hermon, Wayne Jones (Carolyn) of Columbus, Ga., Michael Jones, Bridget Jones and Kathy Hayes (Reginald), all of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Clyde Jones (Gloria) of Los Angeles, Calif., Larry Jones (Diane) of Oakland, Calif., and Robert Jones of Franklinton; four sisters, Bernice Westbrooks (Paul), Norma Jean Jones and Catherine Jones, all of Baton Rouge, and Yvonne Jones of Los Angeles; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Pinkie Jones; sister, Vera Wilson; two brothers, Bobby Jones and Allen Jones; and one granddaughter, Tarshula Hayes.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 1, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Clifton, with the Rev. Johnny Causey Sr., pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery.
