Deaconess Dorothy Cotton, 71, departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at her home.
She was a resident of Varnado. She was the second child of the late Otha Sr. and Nettie M. Foster.
She was a retired dialysis tech, and a graduate of Wesley Ray High School.
She was preceded in death by her two oldest sons, a stillborn at birth and Glenn D. Cotton; her parents, Otha Sr. and Nettie M. Foster; a sister, Helen J. Peters; and two brothers, Edward C. Foster and Otha Foster Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Glenn Cotton; a son, Devon R. Cotton; a daughter, Barbara (Reginald) Taylor of Arlington, Texas; six sisters, Elaine Morris, Odessa (Amos) Peters, Carolyn (Levon) Harry, Beverly Harry and Brenda Thomas, all of Varnado, and Edgie (Charles) Alford of Hammond; three sisters-in law, Bonnie Foster of Varnado, Doris (Mike) Jason of Alexandria and Verlean Jackson of Bogalusa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Rev. Dr. Wilbur R. Morris of Foxworth, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her New Zion Church Family.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 5, at New Zion Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by the funeral services at noon. The Rev. Dr. Linza Rae Cotton will officiate. Interment will follow in the B.B. Moses Cemetery.
