On Saturday, Nov. 21, the Bogalusa Knights of Columbus Council 1819 hosted the Northshore Knights of Columbus Gumbo-Cook Off at the pavilion at Annunciation Catholic Church.
Teams began cooking at 7 a.m. at the pavilion. Judging was at 11 a.m. Notable gumbo judges were Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal, Bogalusa City Councilman Doug Ritchie and Crossroads Seafood owner Laurie Stewart.
Each team provided three gallons of gumbo, which was sold after Mass that afternoon. All proceeds will be donated to the Bogalusa Food Bank.
The winners were a team from Our Lady of the Lake Council 9240 of Mandeville. Winners moved on to the State Gumbo Cook Off in Lafayette in January.
