Cora Elizabeth Smith Slade passed away peacefully at her home in Angie on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015. She was 95 years old.

She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and community. She was an extraordinary person and always put her family before herself. She was a member of Angie Baptist Church where she previously taught Sunday school, assisted with Vacation Bible School, and served on various church committees.

She was a retired dairy farmer, a wonderful wife to the late Jesse Edward Slade, a caring mother to four wonderful children, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a fantastic cook and loved preparing great meals for her family, especially during the holiday seasons.

She is survived by three daughters, Jessie Merle Slade Boone and husband Glenn Boone, Patsy Jean Slade Harris and husband Ralph Harris, Betty Louise Slade Breland and husband Dale Breland; and one son, Johnny Edward Slade and wife Judy Mizell Slade. She was also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Boone, Anthony Boone, Dewaine Harris, Rashann Harris, John Slade, Kimberly Parrish, Timothy Boone, Tammy Keaton, Tonya Breaux, and Cody Breland. She was also blessed with 18 great-grandchildren.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Edward Slade; her parents, Nathaniel Wade Smith and Mammie Lea Thompson Smith; her stepmother, Etta Smith; two half-brothers, William “Billy” Smith and Jerry Wade Smith; a step-sister, Verna Mae Jordan; and a step-brother, Carol L. Herring.

Visitation will be held at the Angie Baptist Church on Thursday, Nov. 19 beginning at 9 a.m. for family and then 9:30 a.m. until the funeral services at 3 p.m. The Rev. Larry Mizell will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonnie Cemetery in Angie.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Boone, Anthony Boone, Timothy Boone, Dewaine Harris, John Slade and Keith Parrish.
