Bogalusa Police apprehended a Covington man on drug charges Monday, after he led officers on a chase into Mississippi where his pickup truck rammed officers’ vehicles and damaged property.

Judd W. Davis, 39, was apprehended in a field across from Crossroads Seafood on Highway 26. He was charged with possession of heroin and oxycontin, with other possible charges to be added, according to Bogalusa Police Chief Joe Culpepper.

Davis was in the Bogalusa City Jail as of Tuesday morning, awaiting transfer to the Washington Parish Jail.

“It started off as a routine traffic stop,” Culpepper said. “We then learned he had felony warrants on him and the chase went west into Pearl River County. He did a U-turn in the highway and our officers shot at his vehicle to disable it. There was minimal damage to property and officers’ vehicles.”

Culpepper commended the work of Capt. Kendall Bullen and credited the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department for their effort in the capture.
