John Barksdale ‘J.B.’ Williamson

John Barksdale “J. B.” Williamson, 72, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at his residence in Bogalusa.
Williamson was born May 5, 1943, to J. B. “Bernard” and Elaine Williamson in Philadelphia, Miss., and moved to Bogalusa as a small child. He graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1961.
He joined the United States Marine Corps and served from July 1961 through June 1966. John “Johnny” was active in the American Legion Post #24 in Bogalusa and a member of the Color Guard.
He was an active member of Elizabeth Sullivan United Methodist Church in Bogalusa. John worked for the U. S. Postal Service in Bogalusa and Baton Rouge and retired at age 56 after 33 years of service.
Johnny is survived by his wife of six years, Margie Goss Williamson of Bogalusa; one daughter, Tiffany Hawkins (Daniel) of Bogalusa; two grandsons, Derek Thomassie and D. J. Hawkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Beth Gerald of Bogalusa; one brother, James T. “Tommy” Williamson (Linda) of Lucedale, Miss.; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three stepchildren, James “Bozo” Goss and daughter, Bridgett; Mark Goss and son Randy and grandson, Jayden; Amber Goss and Michael Sonnenberg, and sons Miles and Aspen Williams; aunts and uncles, Dalton and Bonnie Williamson of Meridian, Miss., Tom and Mazelle Williamson of Tylertown, Miss.; and special friends, Tom Nytka and Scott Beacher.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Bernard Williamson and Clara Elaine Barksdale Williamson; and his wife, Renea Voth Williamson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 11, at Elizabeth Sullivan United Methodist Church from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
