It’s that time of year that when the town of Franklinton welcomes thousands of visitors from everywhere to the Washington Parish Free Fair. Join the fun of the annual decorating contest to help us get decked out to show our pride and spirit as we greet our guests.
Get those unique, clever, creative ideas together and plan your display. Individual residences, businesses, schools, and organizations are all welcome to participate. We have had great response in past years, and fair visitors tell us how much they enjoy seeing the decorations around town. It is part of the fair experience for them.
To enter your display, you must register by calling Linda at the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce (985-839-5822) before 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.
There are no material requirements for displays, just creativity and imagination. However, the decorations must reflect fall themes rather than Halloween. This year’s fair theme is “Making Memories, Making Progress,” but you are not required to use the fair theme. You may use your own special idea.
Judging will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17.
Linda Crain is the executive director of the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce.
