The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is conducting a feasibility study for safety concerns along Louisiana Avenue.
The study will be conducted on Louisiana Highway 10, from Powerline Road to Louisiana Highway 21.
“We recently had a meeting with the DOTD in which myself, Public Works Director James Hall, Councilman Teddy Drummond and Councilwoman Gloria Kates participated,” Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette said. “This is a feasibility study to see what needs to be done to improve safety on Highway 10 west of town to Highway 21.
“The city expressed concern for Carolina and Louisiana avenues. It’s a safety thing with the 18-wheelers using the crossroads at Carolina and Louisiana avenues.”
Perrette said the study is in in infancy.
“The study is at the very beginning stages of looking into the safety concerns,” Perrette said. “The Department of Transportation and Development is responsible for safety of these streets and will make the final decision on these streets on behalf of the city.”
