Mary M. Haaga

Mary M. Haaga, age 95, of Bogalusa, passed away on Oct. 2, 2015, at Regency Hospital of Covington.

She was previously a resident of Covington and graduated from St. Scolastica High School. She and her husband moved to Bogalusa 70 years ago when he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance.

She was a member and very active in Annunciation Catholic Church and the Rosary Society she formed 50 years ago. She was a much-loved member of the Bogalusa community who cherished her family, her church and her country and the elderly.

She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Rose Haaga of Lafayette, and Paulette Jacob of Covington; her son, Val Haaga Jr. (Linda) of Bogalusa; a sister, Dorothy Murphy of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a brother, Lloyd Mutter of New Orleans; eight grandchildren, Heidi Little (Todd), Kevin Haaga, Michelle Palmer (Wayne), Jason Haaga, Pamela Meisner, Erica Young, Tiffanie Fornea and Kirby Herring; and seven great-grandchildren, Lauren Little, Tori Palmer, Olivia Palmer, Storm Meisner, Braeden Meisner, Cole Fornea and Blake Fornea.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Val Haaga Sr.; a daughter, Debbe Mutter; her parents, Ben and Ella Lasseigne Mutter; her brothers, Paul, Charles, Harold, Bernard and Donald Mutter; two grandchildren, Timmy Jacob and Paul Brett Fornea; and a great-grandchild, Elijah Valer Meisner.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Monday, Oct. 5, at Annunciation Catholic Church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Mass services will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Haaga, Storm Meisner, Blake Fornea, Cole Fornea, Wayne Palmer and Todd Little. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Scroggs, Greg Mickenheim, Jim Valenti, David Jacobs, Tim Jacob and Dick Earley.
