Sammie C. Harriel, 87, a resident of Bogalusa, born on April 13, 1928 in Poplarville, Miss., died on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Rest Haven Living Center in Bogalusa.
Sammie was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a member of Masonic Lodge #244 F & AM, and a member of the Magic City American Legion Post #24.
He is survived by one daughter, Rena L. Harriel of Bogalusa; one son, Donny C. (Gwen) Harriel of Poplarville; one brother, Clinton (Cora) Harriel of Wiggins, Miss.; six grandchildren, Shannon Barnes, Travis Harriel, Nicholas Harriel, Amber Palmer, Michael Rivers and Jewel Rivers; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Lou Harriel; two sons, Michael C. Harriel and Reginald Harriel; and one grandson, Daniel C. Harriel.
Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 4, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Visitation will continue at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with Masonic services by the Masonic Lodge #244 F & AM at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., with Elder Gary Sumrall officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery in Poplarville.
