Calvin Rominger

Calvin Jerry Rominger, 59, born in Banner Elk, N.C., on Oct. 24, 1955, died on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at his residence in Varnado.

He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Ann Harrison Rominger of Varnado; one daughter, Julie Ann Rominger (Dusty) Webb of Boone, N.C.; four sons, Robert Anthony (Danielle) Harrison of Bogalusa, Jacoby Lee Rominger of Alabama, Matthew Lee (Ashley) Shea of Saucier, Miss., and William Franklin “Bucky” (Elana) Harrison III of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Verda Grewell of Sugar Creek, Ohio, and Velma (Jack) Ridgeway of Byesville, Ohio; one brother, Kefer (Mary) Rominger of Byesville; 20 grandchildren; and numerous children and grandchildren they helped raise.

He was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Jerry Rominger Jr.; his parents, Ira Dexter Rominger and Anna May Miller Rominger; two grandchildren, Shaenna LeAnn Branch and Michael Willam Gage “Jake” Harrison; and his sister, Kathy Wilson.

Visitation will be held at Angie Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Mizell, Brent Hickman and Roger Hickman officiating.

Proverbs 18:24 — “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Jerry met no stranger and was a friend to all he met.

We lost a friend on Aug. 17, one who was a blessing to everyone he met. Thank you Jerry, we love you. From the family and friends of Jerry Rominger.
