A Thursday morning fire at 621 Wilmuth St. totally destroyed a barn on the property.

Cassie Moses and Emery Owens rent the house on the property, which is owned by Joyce Wilkerson of Atlanta.

Owens called in the fire at 10:47 a.m. Friday morning. They have lived on the property for seven months and did not know the barn’s contents.

The fire was so hot that it melted the vinyl siding on the back of the house.

“It was not an electrical fire because nothing electrical was hooked up to the barn,” Bogalusa Fire Chief Richard Moody said Friday morning. ‘We will look into this further and try and determine the cause of the fire,” Moody said.
