Sidney Wayne Young, age 71, born on July 30, 1943, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015, at his residence in Bogalusa.

He retired after 30 years with the Bogalusa Fire Department. He was a faithful member of Ben’s Ford Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Hunt Young of Bogalusa; two daughters, Lisa Young Crain of Bogalusa and Cheryl Young Lambert of Poplarville, Miss.; nine stepchildren, Chearl Calmes of Franklinton, Sara Cummins of Mandeville, Jeffery Simmons of Franklinton, Willie Hunt of Hattiesburg, Miss., Jerry Hunt of Bangor, Maine, Margaret Hunt of Navarre, Fla., Pat Dial of Bogalusa, Mary Hunt of Navarre, Fla., and Jason Lumpkin of Bogalusa; two sisters, Evelyn Branch and Elsie Thomas, both of Bogalusa; one brother, Richard Young of Poplarville, Miss.; three grandchildren, Jensen Crain, Chelbe Crain and Elizabeth Nixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Aaron Young and Evis Ingram Young; and by two brothers, Charles Edward Young Sr. and William David Young.

Visitation was held at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Visitation will continue at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lynn Martin and the Rev. Caleb Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church Cemetery.

The active pallbearers will be Jay Penton, Alan Fortenberry, Randy Freeman, Gary Moore, Wayne Sumrall and Bennie Buff.
