Ruth Blackwell

Mrs. Ruth Blackwell, age 95, was born on Feb. 15, 1920. She departed this life into the loving arms of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 26, 2015, at her home.

She is survived by one daughter, Frida Pack of Angie; two sons, Lester (Nanette) Blackwell of Angie and Larry (Nancy) Blackwell of Bogalusa; three sisters, Nelia Varnado of Bogalusa, Charlene Dyson of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Gladys Brumfield of Franklinton; one stepson, Willie James of Bogalusa; two daughters-in-law, Diane Blackwell of New Orleans and Leola Blackwell of Angie; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Delmas E. Brumfield; her mother, Corrine Hart; two sons, Willie Blackwell and Donald Ray Blackwell; four sisters, Ozzie Hart, Anna Bunch, Althea Sanders and Mable Brumfield; and four brothers, McCarly, Marvin, Maurice and Delmas Brumfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015, at the chapel of Crain & Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., followed by family hour at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Angie from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 31, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Dr. Alfonso Nelson, pastor, officiating. Interment is at the Robinson Cemetery in Angie.
