Houston Sheridan

Houston Hulon “Sam” Sheridan was born October 16, 1940, and died Monday, July 13, 2015, after a brief illness. Mr. Sheridan was the son of Houston and Jessie Duncan Sheridan.
He attended Pine School. Mr. Sheridan served in the U.S. Army and later married Sandra Kay Gates in 1961, and they divorced in 1996. Mr. Sheridan joined the Pipefitters/Steamfitters Union and later became an accomplished pipe welder. Mr. Sheridan’s career took him to a variety of locations, including Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Alabama and multiple refineries in Wyoming. He enjoyed farming and the outdoors and loved to tinker with old machinery. Mr. Sheridan married Virginia Ring in 1997, and they moved back to his familiar stomping grounds of Washington Parish.
Mr. Sheridan never met a stranger and trusted God with his whole heart.
He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Shan (Tammy) Sheridan of Frankfort, Ind., Stephen (Alison) Sheridan of Lewisville, Texas, and Shaun Sheridan of Amarillo, Texas; a granddaughter, Victori Sheridan of Lafayette, Ind.; a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and George Dunaway of Walker; and special friends, Donald and Bobbie Mizell of Franklinton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Houston; and his mother, Jessie Sheridan.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2015, from 10 a.m. until noon. A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery.
