Rev. Marlon Gipson

The Rev. Marlin Edward Gipson, age 83, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at his residence in Bogalusa. He was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church and before retirement pastored there for 11 years. He also served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a member of Center Lodge 244 F & AM.

He is survived by two sisters, Montez Gipson Miller Locke of Purvis, Miss., and Katie Mae Gipson Bolin of Lumberton, Miss. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Talitha Miller, Tripper Gipson and Casey M. Gipson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita Faye Gipson; son, Marlin Gipson Jr.; parents, Griffin and Lula Gipson; and many brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Friday, July 10, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. It will continue of Saturday, July 11, 2015, from 9 a.m. until time for services in the chapel at 11 a.m. Masonic service will be held on Friday night at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by Magic City Post No. 24 of the American Legion. The Rev. Ray Meigs and the Rev. Pete Underwood will officiate.
