Southeastern Louisiana University’s University Center was the recent setting for the Commencement exercises of Northshore Technical Community College.

Commencement speaker Bob Brown, a native of Franklinton and Board member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, provided remarks to students and families in attendance.

Dr. William Wainwright, chancellor of Northshore Technical Community College, thanked those families in attendance for bringing children to the ceremony. He said it is important now more than ever that children witness success.

Wainwright conferred degrees to 267 graduates with eight graduates receiving the Chancellor’s Award for the completion of an associate’s degree with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0.

Additional recognition also included graduating veterans, members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, Student Government, Skills USA, and the Salzburg Global Leadership Institute.

“Central to student success in college and employment is the development of leadership, service learning and skills enhancement to ensure global competitiveness of graduates. NTCC provides rich learning opportunities that engage students and provide a meaningful pathway to success,” Wainwright said.

Northshore Technical Community College was recently recognized by the Brookings Institute as top in the nation in earnings potential for graduates of two-year institutions in addition to recognition by ACT as the State Exemplar for College and Career Readiness.

Northshore Technical Community College is a member institution of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.
