The body of Edmund Emerson Adams, 32, a resident of Prairieville who had been residing in New Orleans, was recovered at 6 a.m. Friday by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Dive Team in the Bogue Chitto River near the community of Enon in southern Washington Parish.

Adams went missing while on a tubing trip with friends on June 24. Based on eyewitness accounts, it was assumed that he had drowned. That assumption was confirmed Friday morning with the discovery and recovery of the body.

Adams was recovered approximately 50 yards from where he was last seen three days prior. Divers had previously searched this area of the river, but visibility was limited to approximately two feet because of recent rains and resulting muddy water conditions.

Adams’ body was claimed by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office and transported to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy.

“I am so pleased with our dive team and all of our officers. They conducted a diligent search, which resulted in the recovery of Mr. Adams early this morning,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said Friday. “During the entire search, our victim’s service officer remained with Mr. Adams’ parents and guided them through this difficult process. I thank all of our officers who provided unselfish assistance for the past two days.”

Seal continued, “Our hearts go out to the Adams family during this very difficult time in their lives. Please join me in prayer for them as they cope with the loss of their only child.”
