The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System invites all veterans to an Open House for the Bogalusa VA Community-based Outpatient Clinic on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Outpatient Clinic is located at 319 Memphis St. in Bogalusa. Refreshments will be served.

“Any veteran with an Honorable Discharge and served in the military is qualified to receive veteran’s benefits. All kinds of benefits are there,” veteran Bobby Latino said, who took it upon himself to publicize the event.

Latino served in the U.S. Navy and was a Gunner’s Mate on a destroyer. He served from 1966 to 1968 in Vietnam.

“They can test veterans for Agent Orange and other things, like Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome,” Latino said.

“All veterans are welcome to the Open House,” said U.S. Air Force veteran Donald Kuhn, who is helping Latino spread the information about the meeting.

“There are free services and veterans may qualify for other services,” Latino said. “There is help for veteran who are here in Washington Parish. We’re trying to get the word out so we won’t lose the clinic.”
