Oma Crain

Oma Crain, age 91 and a resident of the Sheridan Community, died at 11:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was longtime member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church who enjoyed cooking meals at her home for family and friends. Oma and her sisters operated a dairy farm for many years and later raised beef cattle. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers in her garden.
She is survived by two sisters, Ilean Crain of Franklinton and Dorothy Guy of Angie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, McCauley Crain and Luella Smith Crain; three sisters, Inez Crain, Bessie Crain and very recently Doris Crain Fussell; five brothers, Edwin Crain, Ewell Crain, Delos Crain, Jessie Willard Crain and Hubert Crain.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, June 22, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Doyle Ball and Eld. Tommy Hudnall officiating. Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of St. Tammany Hospice and Heritage Manor for their loving care and to Family Medical Center for many years of wonderful health care.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
