There is no charge to take part and registration is on event day.

Just down the road at the YMCA on Avenue B is the Sports Work Academy Basketball Camp.

The clinic is an opportunity for participants ages 6 through 18 to showcase their basketball skills while learning new ones. The camp also allows them to gain more knowledge of basketball.

The cost is $20 per person. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the camp runs 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

If you like competition on the water, the Louisiana River Adventure Race is going on at the Enon Bridge off of Louisiana Highway 437.

Registration, which is $25 per canoe, is at 8:30 a.m. The safety brief is set for 9:30 a.m., and the first heat gets under way at 10 a.m.

The course is about 7.5 miles long.

The divisions are scouting and venturing boys and girls. There will also be men’s, women’s and mixed divisions.

Also tomorrow, Memory Walkers is holding the Longest Day event at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds to benefit Alzheimer’s awareness/research.

Several activities are on tap.

A 5K race, which is $25 to enter, is set for 8 a.m., with registration from 6:30 a.m. until 7:45 a.m.
