Bro. Willie Magee

Brother Willie Dewitt Magee died on June 14, 2015, at the age of 83 at his home in Franklinton. Willie was born on Dec. 14, 1931, to the late Eldridge and Marie Magee.

Willie was a 1952 graduate of the Washington Parish School System. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Air Force, and he served two years in Japan and two years in Korea. In 1956, he received an honorable discharge from the Air Force and returned home to start his own dairy business, where he worked faithfully for 50 years.

On Jan. 26, 1957, he was united in holy matrimony with Gloria Burris, and to this union two sons were born.

Willie united with Bethel COCH during his teenage years.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Gloria Burris Magee; two sons, Lawton (Octivia) Magee and Kendrick (Gwen) Magee, both of Franklinton; four brothers, Paul (Carmen) Magee, Larry (Clarisse) Magee of Franklinton, Garland (Mary) Magee of Tylertown and Murrell (Dorothy) Magee of Sandy Hook; two sisters, Bonnie Sims of Compton, Calif., and Ida Brenda (Ardie) Clark of Revina, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Kensha, Joy, Sophia, Joshua, Jeremy, Justin, Jason, Tyler and Travante Jr.; great-grandchildren, Lyla, Tahj, Braydin and Landon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eldridge Magee; and mother, Marie Magee. Willie was loved dearly by family and friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be Friday, June 19, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Franklinton Chapel of Cook-Richmond Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Bethel COCH, where the Rev. Jarvis Lee is pastor, and the Rev. Jerome Warren will be officiating. The interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.
