In early May, Bogalusa resident Joel Miller rescued a suicidal man.
While returning one night from a meeting of the Southeast Louisiana Legal Aid Service, Miller encountered a man in the middle of the highway who seemed intent on allowing himself to be struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Miller stopped his vehicle and pulled the man from the road, likely saving his life.
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal recently honored Miller for his bravery with a plaque.
“Joel Miller’s unselfish actions speak volumes,” Seal said. “In spite of potential danger to himself, he stepped forward and did what was necessary to save the man’s life. This is an example for all to follow.”
