Alva Lea Myers Jr., age 87, born on June 3, 1927, in Bogalusa, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015, in Bogalusa.

Alva was former fire chief of the Bogalusa Fire Department and served in the United States Navy in WWII.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah; one niece, Pamela McNeese Moody; numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews; and lifetime family friends, David Taylor and Joanie Tynes Knight.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean McNeese Myers; and by his parents, Alva Lea Myers Sr. and Irene Galloway Myers.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The memorial services will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Gaddy officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National ASPCA.
