Still time to get Citizen of the Year nominations in

Tomorrow evening the Bogalusa Citizen of the Year Committee will meet at the offices of The Daily News to decide on this year’s honoree. It’s a tradition that has been going on for decades.
Nominations have been trickling in since the forms started appearing in the newspaper a few weeks ago, and while there are several good candidates to choose from, there is still time to add a few more names to the pot. In recent years honorees have included Johni Miles-Blount, Carol Duke, Bill Nielsen Jr., Bert Breland, Millicent Canter and Whit Gallaspy. So if you know someone whose name you’d like to add to that list, make sure you get a nomination form (found on page 5 of today’s paper) to The Daily News by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 30.
As for the Franklinton Citizen of the Year, those nominations have been a bit slower coming in, so it was decided to extend the nomination period to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
We know there are plenty of folks on the west side of the parish who are deserving of the honor, so please get those nomination forms in as soon as possible.
