When it comes to recreation, it’s always good to have some options.

No doubt, Cassidy Park tops the recreation list for folks in Bogalusa and the surrounding area.

We understand improvements at Poole’s Bluff Nature Park are coming along nicely, according to Washington Parish Director of Public Works Leo Lucchesi.

With the weather warming up, those improvements can’t be completed fast enough.

The fishing pier on the Pearl River at Poole’s Bluff was recently completed. Work on the concrete walkway approach, signage, roof covered area and benches at the pier’s wooden structure were all begun last week. Inmates from Rayburn Correctional Center will complete construction of the pier and its surrounding features.

Along with a $25,000 grant from Parkway Pipeline, the Poole’s Bluff Nature Project is being funded by an $89,300 federal Recreational Trails Program Grant administered through the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

It’s about time to be fishing and enjoying life in the great outdoors, and the improvements at Poole’s Bluff will be a great addition to the area’s offerings.
