Betty Seal

Betty Joyce Walker Seal passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born May 21, 1932, in Bogalusa to Hugh Dudley “Babe” Walker and Mattie Mae Barber Walker. She loved working in her yard, but her greatest love was her husband and her family. The legacy that she leaves behind is her love of God and 66 years of a blessed marriage to her husband, Thayer. She was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church in Bogalusa. Betty graduated from Varnado High School in 1950 and was valedictorian of her graduating class.

She retired after a long and successful career at Joan of Arc Co. in St. Francisville, La. She and her husband were residents of Picayune, Miss.

Mrs. Seal is survived by her husband, Thayer W. Seal; and her son, Ronald T. Seal (Marcia) of Denison, Texas. She is also survived by five granddaughters: Stephanie Seal Harmon (Mance) of Austin, Texas, Amy Seal Moore (James) of Tuscumbia, Ala., Kristen Seal Thompson (David) of Denison, Texas, Lelania Seal of Baton Rouge and Abbey Seal Knight (Matthew) of Slaughter, La.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Leemon, Madison, Benjamin and Joshua Harmon of Austin, Texas, London and Sydney Grace Moore of Tuscumbia, Ala., Mackenzie Thompson of Denison, Texas, Michael Seal of Baton Rouge and Julia and Emma Knight of Slaughter, La. In addition to these, she is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Bolton of Picayune, Miss.; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Dudley “Babe” Walker and Mattie Mae Walker; her youngest son, Terry A. Seal; and two brothers, Marvin Walker and Marshall “Shack” Walker.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Bogalusa. Pastors presiding over the service will be Clay Norwood, Dale Clabaugh and James Moore. Interment will follow at Seal Cemetery in Varnado.

The pallbearers will be John Bolton, Shannon Ramsay, Austin Ramsay, Dylan Ramsay, Jerry West and Charlie Fornea.
