The City of Bogalusa’s third annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Cassidy Park.

The city’s Easter Egg Hunt is just one of a number that are scheduled around the city beginning today.

Local children will enjoy themselves trying to find 4,000 Easter eggs hidden throughout Cassidy Park.

The Easter Bunny has adjusted his schedule and will visit children in Cassidy Park.

Also, Bogalusa Recreation Department Director Landon Tims said children who find the two golden eggs will win bicycles. Tims said one of the bicycles is for children ages 1-4, while the other is for youngsters 4-and-up.

Tims said the event is steadily growing.

“When we started, we began with 1,000 eggs. We quickly realized that wasn’t going to be enough,” Tims said. “Maybe after this year we’ll have to re-evaluate and bump it up to 5,000 to 6,000 eggs depending on the crowd size.”

Tims estimated more than 100 children participated in last year’s Easter egg hunt. He said counting their families, it was like 300 total people at the park.

Tims also said La Petite La Riche Boutique is doing raffles and gift baskets for the children. Employees with Our Lady of the Angels Hospital volunteered to hide the eggs.

Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette said Saturday should be fun.

“I’m very excited about the Easter Egg Hunt this year,” Perrette said. “We’ve got some great volunteers from Our Lady of the Angels Hospital. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and we want everybody to come out and enjoy themselves,” Perrette said.
