Free ride anything but for local man

A Washington Parish man received more than he bargained for after accepting a ride from three men last Friday night, March 20, in the Franklinton area.

The man suspected something was wrong when the driver steered the car to a remote area and stopped on the pretense of having engine problems. The rider’s suspicions quickly became reality.

Once the vehicle stopped, the victim was assaulted and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by the men who gave him a ride. The victim was left on the side of the road with significant injuries, including broken bones.

The assault and robbery was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Three suspects were identified, and one was arrested the same night. Tremale Deonte Jenkins, 23, a resident of the Franklinton area, was arrested and placed in the Washington Parish Jail.

The other two suspects were identified as Tyran Ormond Williams, 21, and Jouquan Dennis, 23, both residents of the Franklinton area. Investigators had difficulty locating the two men until their pictures were featured on the Most Wanted page of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office website. Within hours of being featured on the website as fugitives, the two men turned themselves in. They, too, were placed in the Washington Parish Jail.

Each man is charged with aggravated robbery. Bond for Jenkins was set at $32,425. Bonds for Williams and Dennis were set at $30,000 each.

“Detective Corbett Hunt and Deputy Anthony Jones did an excellent job in identifying these men,” Sheriff Randy Seal said. “They are to be commended. This case also illustrates the value of the Most Wanted page on our website. If we need to find you, you can count on your name and picture being broadcast on our website. I encourage all parish residents to view our website regularly and view all available information. The website is and can be viewed 24 hours per day.”
