Sarah Ann Applewhite Jenkins, a resident of Pearl River, age 76, born on July 30, 1938, in Bogalusa, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Ochsner Medical Center-Northshore in Slidell.

She is survived by one daughter, Cindy A. (Samuel) Thomas; three sons, Brian Jenkins, Terry Jenkins and Jeffery Applewhite; two sisters, Sybil Breland and Dewanna “Sis” Jordan; four grandchildren, Wade Thomas, Chris Thomas, Aaron Moran and Skyler Jenkins; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Jenkins; one daughter, Ann Applewhite Moran; her parents, Walter R. Applewhite and Nellie Belle Baughman Applewhite; and four brothers, Bobby Applewhite, Tim Applewhite, Jerry Applewhite and Donald Applewhite.

Visitation wa held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Visitation will continue at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 22, 2015, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dennis Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
