The Washington Parish Free Fair announced this week that the theme for this year’s fair is “Making Memories, Making Progress.”

What a great theme for an annual event that brings so many people to Washington Parish!

Many residents of Washington Parish mark the days of the fair on their calendars and look forward to this annual event with a great deal of passion and excitement. Over the years, many memories have been made at the fair and many more will surely be be created in the coming years. It’s a time in Washington Parish during which people take a moment out of their busy lives, take a step back and just enjoy the different events at the fair, whether it’s the parade, the 5K race, the rodeo or any of the other many events. Fair days are a time when fair goers wake up that morning knowing they will have fun that day.

So many families have been coming to the fair for most or all of their lives, and so many people volunteer their time each year to make this event one of the best if not the best event in the state.

Another thing about the fair is that it brings people from other areas, and our parish welcomes them with open arms. It’s an opportunity for our parish to show people how great it is here and that Washington Parish knows how to put on events at a very high level.

Mark your calendars for the 2015 Free Fair and let’s continue this tradition. The fair is set for Oct. 21-24. So get ready to make some memories.
