Dr. Allen Singleton Jr.

Dr. Allen R. “Chick” Singleton Jr., age 88, passed away March 17, 2015, at Regency Hospital in Covington. He was a resident of Bogalusa. He was a member of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Methodist Church and a graduate of LSU Medical School and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean W. Singleton; one son, Allen Richard Singleton III (Donna) of Bogalusa; one daughter, Jan Allyn Singleton Sanders (Roger) of Bogalusa; six grandchildren, Rachele, Amanda, Jacob, Heather Nicole Sanders Boyet, Jennifer Anne Singleton and Tiffany Danielle Singleton (Kevin); and three great-grandchildren, Jace, Aston Singleton and Ethan Boyet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen R. Singleton Sr. and Anna Lou Dyer Singleton; brother, Tom Singleton; sister, Anna Bess McPheeters; and a grandchild, Ashley Dawn Case.

Visitation was held in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue Friday, March 20, 2015, from 8 a.m. until time for service in the chapel at 2 p.m. There will be a private graveside service at Ponemah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bogalusa Country Club for maintaining the golf course.
