Patty Brignac

rignac was welcomed into the heavenly kingdom on March 12, 2015, at the age of 63. She was surrounded by family and friends in the home of her sister, Brenda Williams, when she was peacefully taken from this world as a result of her battle with cancer and scleroderma. Patty demonstrated great strength in her illness and was an inspiration to those around her.
In 1969, Patty graduated from Varnado High School and went on to earn a master’s degree in elementary education at Southeastern Louisiana University. She spent almost 40 years in the classroom teaching math and inspiring the students that she instructed. Patty laughed often, loved much and could always find the best in others. She leaves this world a better place for all who had the joy of knowing her. Patty was a member of the Varnado United Methodist Church.
Patty is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Brignac of Hammond; a daughter that she adored, Kasey Brignac of Hammond; a sister, Brenda Williams of Varnado; a brother-in-law, Jacques Brignac (Kathy) of Simsbury, Conn.; a father-in-law, Rodney Brignax of Hammond; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her mother and father, Evelyn and Ancel Williams; maternal grandparents, Aver and John Dawsey; paternal grandparents, Bertie and Clyde Williams; brother, Ancel Williams Jr.; sister, Linda Williams; mother-in-law, Vivian Brignac; and nephew, Jonathan Watts.
Visitation will be held at Varnado United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 15, 2015, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The funeral services will be at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Benson officiating. Interment willo follow at T.P. Fornea Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation.
