Emmitt May

Mr. Emmitt May was born on Oct. 24, 1932, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie C. (Elizabeth) May in Monticello, Miss. He departed this life on Feb. 25, 2015, at the age of 82 at home.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Eva Mae Hudson May on Sept. 15, 1954, and to this union three children were born.

He joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and later moved his membership in 1958 to the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. H. Brown, and under the Rev. Raymond Mims he served until his health felled him.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted loving wife for 60 years, Mrs. Eva May; three children, Charles (Sharonda) May of Baton Rouge, Eva (Donald Ray) Sampson and Corneilus May, both of Bogalusa, and Renee Gree, who he raised, of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Oletha Johnson of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Susie Latimore of Houston; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015, from 2 until 6 p.m., followed by a family hour from 6 until 8 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Raymond Mims, pastor, officiating.
