Graveside services for Shirley Ardell Peters Alexander, who passed away at the age of 88 on Feb. 22, 2015, will be held at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Port Hudson, La., on Friday, March 6, 2015, at 1 p.m. under the direction of the Picayune Funeral Home. A native of Poplarville, Miss., Shirley was born April 16, 1926.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Major Gary E. Alexander; son, Gary E. Alexander Jr.; grandson, John Dustin Alexander Dyer; granddaughter, Angela Bond; parents, Raymer and Ida Lou Peters; and eight siblings.

Survivors include her three daughters, Sharon (Chris) Bond, Phyllis Alexander Shirey and Jeanie (Robert) Latiolais, as well as 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
